Come explore 17th Century New Amsterdam with NAHC Trustee Toya Dubin. On this lively journey back in time, you'll meet Native American Chief Wampage II, enslaved African Manuel de Gerrit de Reus, Jewish resident Asser Levy, Anthony Salée, aka, « The Turk », and women's advocate Catalina Trico. Learn about how these and other New Amsterdammers lived, where they worked, whom they married and even what they drank. This diverse population, said to have spoken 18 dialects or languages, laid the foundation for today's New York City. Sliding time maps and a walk down Stone Street will capture your imagination.
