You are invited to join us for a very special afternoon at Pen + Brush.
This is a free event; members only.
We will start with a tour upstairs by Parker Daley Garcia, curator of Pen + Brush. We will visit the exhibition "Multi" which features work by artists Donna Festa, Lola Flash, Anya Kotler, Christine Mace, Michela Martello, and Judith Modrak.
We will continue the tour downstairs where Miriam Kruishoop, artist, writer and filmmaker, will guide you along her own works.
If time permits we will finish the tour with a viewing of her 23 minute film Estilo Americano.
Miriam Kruishoop is a multi award-winning and multi-faceted artist, writer and filmmaker. She graduated with honors from the Gerrit Rietveld Academy in Amsterdam. Her talents span across a diverse set of creative genres. She is a storyteller at heart with a passion for exploring cultural narratives. For the past 20 years she has highlighted the invisible people in society and focused on diversity and inclusion. From films like Greencard Warriors to Estilo Americano, from solo shows like #IM ANGRY TOO to God Bless America, MK has never shied away from addressing difficult topics. She is drawn to the portrayal and empathetic celebration of the isolated within communities, the alone and far from home, the victims of abuse, racism, and prejudice. Her work is emotional and always has something to say about the way we perceive, judge, love, learn about and communicate with each other. MK is represented by NL=US art gallery. She lives and works in Los Angeles.
Please note, due to COVID regulations and the intimate character of the tour, a limited amount of people is allowed to attend the tour.
